S. Korean, Japanese leaders to meet for summit talks next week
SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Yonhap) -- Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama will visit Seoul
next week for summit talks with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, the
presidential office here said Thursday.
"Prime Minister Hatoyama will make a one-day visit Oct. 9 at the invitation of
President Lee," Cheong Wa Dae said. "The two leaders will broadly exchange views
on improving bilateral relations, the political situation surrounding the Korean
Peninsula and on cooperation on the international stage, including the G-20."
Lee and Hatoyama met briefly on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New
York last month. The Japanese prime minister took office on Sept. 16.
The two leaders will be meeting ahead of a trilateral East Asia summit, attended
by them and Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, on Oct. 10 in Beijing.
