Illegal tech leaks from S. Korea rising

SEOUL, Oct. 2 (Yonhap) -- Attempts to illegally leak key industrial technologies
to foreign countries from South Korea have been on the rise in recent years, a
government report said Friday.

Forty-two illegal industrial technology transfers were detected by the country's
spy agency last year, followed by 31 in 2006 and 25 in 2004, according to a
report by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
The figure represents only cases detected by the agency, while the real number of
cases is estimated to be higher, the ministry said.
In addition, most of the leaks were headed for China, the report said.
