UNDERSTANDING MEMO MEETING OF INDIAN OCEAN BORDERING COUNTRIES TO BE LAUNCHED IN YEMEN
SANA'A, Oct. 03 (Saba) - The 12th meeting of the understanding memorandum of the countries bordering the Indian Ocean to control ships is to be launched in Sana'a on Monday.
The meeting, which is to be organized by Ministry of Transport and the General Authority for Maritime Affairs, is to be held on October 5-8.
Nine countries' delegations bordering the Indian Pacific, including Yemen, will participate in the meeting; Australia, France, South Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Mauritius, Kenya, Tanzania.
Transport Minister Khalid al-Wazir said that the meeting will discuss several issues such as inspection activity on ships in the Indian Ocean region, in general, as well as reviewing the 2009 annual report in this regard.
The Minister noted that the meeting will address the technical cooperation program for training and rehabilitating in the field of ships inspection as well as discussing organization's budget for 2010.
Yemen joined to the understanding memorandum in July 23, 2002 for realizing the significance of the cooperation and coordination among the Indian Ocean bordering countries.
