Two days after securing bail, Shiney is out of prison

Mumbai, Oct 3 (PTI) Three-and-a-half months after his
arrest for allegedly raping his 20-year-old domestic help,
Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja walked out of the high-security
Arthur Road Jail on Saturday but will have to stay in Delhi
till the trial begins.

Clad in a green T-shirt and blue jeans, a glum-faced
Ahuja came out of the prison and sped away in a grey Mercedes
Benz car with his wife Anupam and filmmaker friend Ashok
Pandit without speaking to scores of reporters and lensmen who
were waiting outside since morning.

The 36-year-old actor had secured bail from the Bombay
High Court on October one but could not be released that day
as his lawyers had failed to complete the formalities. His
release was further delayed since Friday was a public holiday
on account of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The High Court while granting bail to Ahuja had set the
condition that he will stay in Delhi till the trial commenced
to ensure that there was no tampering of evidence.

The court had also asked him to pay a surety amount of
Rs 50,000 within three weeks, surrender his passport and
refrain from offering any inducement to witnesses, directly or
indirectly.

He was arrested on June 15 after his maid lodged a
complaint with Oshivara police station that the actor had
raped her at his residence. The wife and child of the actor
were not at home when the alleged incident occurred. More PTI
