Hulls also lauded the contribution of the Indian
community towards the state's growing economy apart from the
civic, social and cultural aspects.

"Without your extraordinary contribution to our civic,
social, economic and culture, Victoria will not be the great
place that is today," he said.

The Brumby Labour Government valued the contribution
of the Indian community to Victoria and was proud to
contribute USD 30,000 in funding for Diwali in the West, Hulls
said.

This is one of the several 'Diwali' festivals being
held across Victoria to highlight the vital contribution of
Indian community to the state.

"Celebrations and festivals such as these work to
break down barriers, promote cultural harmony, and contribute
to the life and expression of our multicultural community," he
said.

The event is being proposed as an annual event to
integrate the Indian community with the mainstream here. A
Bollywood fashion parade, music and dance were part of the
