30% students attendance in first day of new school year, education minister says

SANA'A, Oct.04 (Saba) - Education Minister Abdul Salam al-Jawfi has indicated that
85% of
teachers attended Saturday as the first day of a new school year and 30% attendance
of students at the same day from all different governorates, the state-run 26

reported Saturday.

Sana'a capital and Sayoon governorates are further delaying the start of the new
school year because of the increase of the cases of H1N1 virus.
Yemen health ministry has previously declared that swine flu rose up to 200 cases
and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research postponed the start of
the
new academic year for a week after the vacation of Eid-al-Fitr in order to take the
necessary measures to prevent spreading swine flue among students.
