Jakarta, Oc. 5 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was on Monday scheduled to receive the Team of Five tasked to recommend the names of persons to be appointed acting Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leaders.
The meeting would take place at the presidential office at 2 pm local time. And at 5 pm local time, the head of state would hold a limited cabinet meeting with several ministers.
The Team of Five consists of Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Widodo AS, Minister of Law and Human Rights Andi Mattalatta, presidential adviser Adnan Buyung Nasution, senior lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis and former KPK chief Taufiequrrahman Ruki.
At the meeting with the head of state, the team was expected to present the names of person it thought qualified to be serve as acting Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leaders.
Originally, the team was to present the candidates' names to the President on Sept. 30 after the president had returned from a G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh, the United States. But, it was delayed because Yudhoyono had to go to West Sumatra which was devastated by a deadly earthquake on Sept. 30.
The presidential decree on the formation of the Team of Five was issued to follow up a Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) on the appointment of a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interim chief, which was earlier signed by President Yudhoyono.
A reliable source at the Presidential Palace said recently the president had signed the Perppu together with a presidential decree on the suspension of two KPK leaders, Chandra M Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto, last September.
Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M Hamzah are two KPK vice chairmen who have been named suspects for abuse of authority while KPK chairman Antasari Azhar is facing prosecution in a murder case.
