Foreign firms favor S. Korea's green industry

SEOUL, Oct. 5 (Yonhap) -- Nearly one out of every four foreign companies
operating in South Korea says the country's green industries are the most
promising destination for investments, a poll showed Monday.

According to the poll of 500 foreign companies in South Korea, conducted by the
Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), 23.4 percent of respondents chose
the energy and environmental sectors as their most profitable investment targets.

The semiconductor industry was next with 18.1 percent, followed by information
technology with 12.2 percent, pharmaceuticals and biotechnologies with 12.1
percent and displays and autos with 10.9 percent, the poll said.
Foreign firms seem to have taken notice of the Korean government's drive to
pursue green growth and local companies' interest and willingness to get
involved, KCCI said.
