WEST SUMATRA'S QUAKE DEATH TOLL RISES TO 625

Padang, Oct 5 (ANTARA) - The number of death toll in West Sumatra's powerful earthquake which struck the province on Wednesday, September 30 last week up to 11 pm on Monday reached 625.

The biggest number of dead victims was found in Padang city reaching 248, and in Padang Pariaman district 282, according to data made available at West Sumatra's Disasters Mitigation Task Force on Monday night.

Besides, the number of those suffering from serious injuries was 744, minor ones 1,343 and those missing 295.

The earthquake also destroyed 101,653 houses and damaged 97,995 others.
