Khoja opens Arab publishers conference 2 Riyadh

Then the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King
Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was delivered on his behalf by the
Minister of Culture and Information.

The following is the text of the speech:
To Say in the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate and
Peace be upon Prophet Muhammad
Dear Brothers, Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon you.
I am pleased at the outset to welcome you in the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia, in the First Arab Publishers Conference. This cultural
event has been witnessing a great Arab and international attention. I
hope that this conference will be a genuine breakthrough towards an
organized publication of Arab books that enrich our own cultural
arena and fulfill the aspirations of our peoples to reach an advanced
cultural level leading to construction and development.
We refer to our Islamic and Arab bright past in science and
knowledge and to the dissemination of culture in all its forms by our
scientists all over the world. We hope to continue the march and
complete what had been started by our ancestors' interest and
attention, benefitting from what we possess of modern means of
publication, and above all, of bright thoughts possessed by our
writers and literary men.
We all realize the importance of the role of publishers in
the cultural process. Through the themes of this conference and its
objectives and through a meaningful and positive dialogue, we look
forward with optimism to reaching recommendations that support the
cultural movement in the Arab world and overcome any obstacles.
Through this cultural event, I assure that the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia will spare no effort in enriching the cultural movement in the
Arab world and making access of knowledge to all strata of the
society easily.
We should not stop at any recommendations or outcomes to be
reached at this Conference and other cultural events, but we should
follow-up implementation of these recommendations and outcomes and
making them realities in our societies. I am confident in the
sincerity of your directives and farsightedness. I wish you all
success.
