Arrival of 1st Saudi airlift aid in Indonesia

Jakarta, October 06, SPA -- in line with the directives of the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to
provide immediate humanitarian relief aid to Indonesia to mitigate
the humanitarian situation of the people affected by the earthquake
that recently struck the city of Padang, the largest city in island
of Sumatra, the first Saudi airlift humanitarian aid arrived today at
Soekarno-Hatta International airport in Jakarta, the Indonesian
capital.
The first cargo plane carried on board 100 tons of emergency aid
including tents, food materials, blankets and rugs.
The loaded plane was received by Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia
Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Ameen Al-Khayat and number of embassy's
officials.

The Ambassador said that this assistance comes at this critical time
in response to the humanitarian, fraternal and Islamic appeal,
indicating that such assistance will have positive impact at the
Indonesian governmental and public levels.
He said that he surveyed Padang city and affected areas as the first
foreign ambassador to visit the inflected areas.
On his part, the Governor of Padang expressed his appreciation for
the government of Saudi Arabia and lauded the Saudi ambassador's
initiative to be the first ambassador to inspect the area. He
considers the Saudi gesture as moral support for the city of Padang
in particular and Eastern Sumatra in general.
