BEI INDEX CLOSES HIGHER ON REGIONAL BOURSE GAINS

Jakarta, Oct. 7 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) here on Wednesday morning closed higher on regional bourse gains.

The BEI index went up 0.28 points to 2,528.43, and the LQ 45 index rose 0.640 points or 0.28 percent, to 498.244 points.

The positive sentiment at the regional bourses has boosted the Indonesian stocks to strengthen, according to Gifar Indra Sakti, an analyst of Kresna Securities.

At regional bourses, Nikkei-225 shares advanced 115.53 points (1.19 percent to the level of 9,799 points, Hang Seng index added 386.71 (1.86 percent) to 21,198, and Straits Times shares gained 27.73 points (1.06 percent) to 2,639.

At the BEI, BRI (BBRI) shares went up Rp400 to Rp 8,500, Astra International (ASII) shares rose Rp 400 to Rp 35,000, PTBA shares surged Rp 300 to Rp 14,500, Aneka Tambang (ANTM) shares advanced 100 to Rp 2,625.

The frequency of transactions in the first trading session reached 79,549 times, with a total volume of 3.3 billion shares, and value of Rp3.934 trillion. Some 56 shares advanced, 115 shares lost, and 75 shares remained static.
