YEMEN DISCUSSES WITH IMF, IFC COOPERATION RELATIONS
ISTANBUL, Oct.07 (Saba) - Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi discussed in Turkish city,
Istanbul, on Wednesday with Deputy Managing Director of
International Monetary Fund (IMF) Takatoshi Kato the cooperation
relations between Yemen and the fund and means of developing them.
The meeting reviewed the economic developments witnessed by Yemen
during the past period as well as the prospects of economic growth
and the possibility of IMF's support to Yemen's efforts to overcome
the financial and economic challenges.
For his part, the IMF's official voiced the fund's readiness to
offer all aspects of financial and technical support to help Yemen
to face the challenges within the new offered programs which the
fund presents to the developing countries in light of the global
financial crisis' consequences.
On another hand, the minister, al-Arhabi, held talks with Vice
President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Rashad
Kaldany.
The talks dealt with the different investment fields which the
corporation can partake in, indicating in this respect to the new
investment law draft, currently brought before the parliament to
approve it, and the features and facilities offered by the law.
Al-Arhabi praised the level of technical support presented to Yemen
by the corporation and its bodies in this side.
The IFC's official expressed the corporation's readiness to present
the needful technical support for developing the private sector in
Yemen.
