S. Korea's Q4 exports may rebound, survey shows
SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's exports are expected to rebound in the
fourth quarter, fueled by a rapid recovery in shipments throughout Asia, a survey
showed Thursday.
The influential Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency said its export index
for the October-December period stood at 54.
A reading above 50 means optimists forecasting that exports will improve
outnumber pessimists who say they will deteriorate.
"Economies in Asia are showing a faster recovery than other regions," said an
official at the trade agency.
The survey was jointly conducted by Samsung Economic Research Institute, a
private economic think tank.
Last month, exports fell 6.6 percent from a year ago to US$35 billion, marking
the smallest decline in 11 months.
