'Unsavoury' remarks on Rahul land police official in trouble

Kozhikode (Kerala), Oct 8 (PTI) 'Unsavoury' remarks over
wireless handset on Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi during
his unscheduled overnight stay in Kozhikode (in India's
southern state of Kerala) Wednesday, has landed a senior
police official in trouble as an enquiry has been ordered into
it.

"ADGP (north) Mahesh Kumar Singala has asked me to
submit a report after holding an enquiry into the
circumstances and context in which the alleged unsavoury
remarks on the VVIP were made," City Police Commissioner S
Sreejith told PTI here Thursday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (south) C M Pradeep
Kumar through his wireless handset had allegedly said that
"does this chap have no business?" and "which location he is
planning to visit."

The remarks were reportedly made after senior officials
were alerted to be on various spots after Gandhi made a
surprise outing in the city on reaching the guest house here
Wednesday evening.

Since the remarks were made through wireless, the
message was immediately passed over to the Central and State
home ministries following which the authorities are understood
to have called for an enquiry.

Gandhi had visited the state Wednesday during which he
had interactive meetings with party workers as well as
students of different colleges in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi
and Kozhikode.

Gandhi, who stayed put in a guest house Wednesday night
after attending a meeting at Farooq College here, had tea at a
roadside hotel taking police and his security officials by
surprise. He left the state for poll-bound Maharashtra in the
morning. PTI NK
