S. Korea, Africa agree to cooperate in aviation technology
SEOUL, Oct. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's government said Friday that it has agreed
to step up cooperation with a private aviation organization in Africa as part of
efforts to bolster technical and personnel exchanges with the continent.
The agreement was made under a preliminary deal with the African Civil Aviation
Commission comprised of 48 member countries that represent Africa in the aviation
industry, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said in an emailed
statement.
"We have laid the groundwork for solid cooperation with African countries. Under
the deal, we plan to provide free training and education for African aviation
engineers in a pilot project," the ministry said.
"It will contribute to enhancing a support base for bilateral relations by
encouraging information sharing, exchange of experts, the holding of regular
meetings and joint participation in international conferences," it added.
The ministry signed a similar cooperative deal with an aviation body in Europe in
July.
