£ 2 mn in Britain aid for Yemen refugees
LONDON, Oct. 09 (Saba) – Britain has
announced £ 2 million in humanitarian aid for the war-affected people in northern Yemen.
The sum comes in response to the U.N. appeal to help more than 150.000 refugees from
persistent confrontations between the army and the Houthi rebels in Saada and Amran.
It would
be directed for water, food, healthcare, shelter and sanitation. Earlier the U.N.
made an urgent appeal to provide $ 23 million to be channeled through relief
agencies for
the affected. The UK also voiced its concern at the condition of the refugees after
relief agencies said the rebels have been preventing them from reaching the
displaced.
