3 dead as rebel-planted landmine hits Saada car
SAADA, Oct. 09 (Saba) - Three members of a family in Yemen's restive northern province of Saada were killed on
Friday as a
landmine, planted by the Houthi rebels, hit their car on the road leading to the
Kharab village in the district of al-Safra'a, officials said.
Director of the
district Muhammad
Naji Maqas confirmed the fatalities, saying a father was killed along with his wife
and another relative in the incident. A fourth relative who accompanied the family
was
seriously injured and transported to Sana'a for treatment, the director said. The
incident took place amid continuous attacks against the people by the rebels who
have been
fighting the government forces in Saada since 2004. The insurgents attack those
people who refuse to cooperate with them against the authorities, planting landmines
in various
areas and firing rockets at the people's homes and farms, the authorities said. FR
