US embassy here has expressed pride for awarding Nobel Peace Prize to
US President Barack Obama for 2009.

Riyadh, Oct 10, SPA -- US embassy here has expressed pride for
awarding Nobel Peace Prize to US President Barack Obama for 2009.
US ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia James B. Smith said
in a press statement on the occasion 'we feel honored for awarding
the prize, which embodies the desire of the world for peace, to our
President'.
The ambassador pointed out that this desire and vision were
spelled out by President Obama to the Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz last June at his address to the
world in Cairo'.
I do feel happy to see the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the wise
leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin
Abdulaziz reviving the Islamic principles in justice, progress,
tolerance and dignity for all people, he said adding that the Kingdom
and the US have common views as regards so many things, but their
commitment to the sacred values pertaining to mutual respect and
understanding among the people constitutes the most important element
in this regard.
Smith pointed out that through initiatives like the initiative of
dialogue among followers of religions and establishing King Abdullah
University of Science and Technology (KAUST), King Abdullah has
demonstrated commitment to the same progress shown by Obama.
'As a representative of President Obama in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia, I do feel proud for welcoming the prize, and I feel honored
for working along with the government of the Custodian of the Two
Holy Mosques for serving our interests and common goals in all
domains so as to realize hope in peace and progress, he said.
The Nobel prize committee said it is very rare to find a person
who has succeeded in drawing the attention of the world and granting
hope for its nations in a better future as Obama has done, adding
that his diplomacy is based on the vision which believes that the
leaders of the world should work on the base of values and trends in
which most of the nations of the world share.
Obama had said in his speech that the US is working for a new
beginning with the Muslim world based on mutual interests, and that
Islam and the US are not in need of competition, and they have
common values as regards justice, development, tolerance and dignity
for all people.
