NEPAL-PRACHANDA 2 LAST

Before his departure to Beijing, Prachanda told reporters
at the Tribhuvan International Airport Sunday that India
should not take it otherwise when he visits China and
vice-versa.

"Our party has the policy to maintain good relations with
both neighbouring countries," he said.

Prachanda said he was visiting China at the invitation of
the ruling Communist Party and if he received a similar
invitation from India after his return, he was ready to
consider it.

Hardline Maoist leader Mohan Vaidya, the former rebels'
Foreign Affairs Department chief Krishna Bahadur Mahara and
Prachanda's son Prakas have accompanied him to his visit to
China.

Prachanda chose to visit Hong Kong last month apparently
to evade a direct meeting with Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao,
when she was here on a brief visit.

Prachanda, who left for Hong Kong a day before Rao's
visit, met Chinese officials there. PTI SBP
