S. Koreans believe per-capita GDP will exceed US$30,000 in 10 years

SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Yonhap) -- More than six in 10 South Korean believed that the
nation's per-capital gross domestic product will surpass US$30,000 over the next
decade, a survey showed Monday.

Sixty-four percent of respondents expected per-capita GDP, the average amount
income for every South Korean, to exceed the $30,000-mark within 10 years,
according to the survey commissioned by the Federation of Korean Industries, a
business lobby group.
As of 2008, South Korea's per-capita GDP stood at $19,106.
The survey also found 35.6 percent cited incompetent politicians and a fiery
National Assembly as the main obstacle for South Korea to become an "advanced
nation," while another 22.8 percent saw militant unionism.
The survey of 800 adults was conducted on Oct. 6 by a private agency. It has a
margin of error of plus or minus 3.46 percentage points, according to the
federation.
