INDONESIAN PRESIDENT-ELECT WORKING NON-STOP TO FORM CABINET
Cikeas, Oct 12 (ANTARA) - Vice President-elect Boediono said President-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono with his assistance had begun working non-stop to form the new cabinet so that it could be announced on time.
He said at a press conference at the president-elect's private residence in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, that Yudhoyono and he would work day and night to select figures for the next cabinet.
"From morning I have accompanied the president-elect in the process of forming the cabinet. The process will be like a marathon. You will see me a lot with the president-elect with regard to the cabinet's formation," he said in the company of Andi Mallarangeng.
He said the process being carried out now was studying incoming data of candidates proposed by political parties or through other mechanisms.
"Of course, I cannot tell you in detail regarding the process which will be done in stages. The president-elect has received various inputs and proposals from coalition member parties and he will certainly examine them. I just now saw a pile of curriculum vitaes that he himself would study carefully," he said.
Boediono said he would accompany Yudhoyono and certainly the president-elect would ask for his inputs regarding the candidates.
He said "there will be a schedule for a meeting or an interview-like sessions between the president-elect and selected candidates and health checks on ministerial candidates. These stages will be arranged carefully so that they would be on time and on track so that the president can announce it on time."
Boediono said the program for the first one hundred days in office and also the five-year program had basically been finished so that in time the ministerial candidates would be able to see them to see if they were ready to implement them.
"For the program for the first one hundred days in office we will choose the fundamental ones which could be finished in one hundred days or the beginning of activities that would not be finished within one hundred days or combination of both. That would be the first assignment for the ministers which they should elaborate in detail and use as a reference in their five-year term and find their correct proportion," he said.
Boediono said the proportion between candidates from political parties and professionals would be balanced.
Hatta Rajasa, Sudi Silalahi and Boediono had been at Yudhoyono's residence since morning. Boediono and Hatta only left the house at around 6.25 pm.
