FAO, WFP delegation visits Dhamar province

DHAMAR, Oct.12 (Saba) - A =
delegation from UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and UN World =
Food Program (WFP) led by FAO's
expert Halah Hafedh currently visits Dhamar province to study conditions =
of food security and agricultural production in Yemen.

The visit came within the efforts which aim at conducting necessary =
studies in an attempt to limit agricultural production deterioration and =
face obstacles challenging the
Yemeni farmers amid declining underground waters and rain.
In the meeting of the UN delegation with Chairman of the General =
Authority of Agricultural Researches and Guidance (GAARG) Esmail Mohram =
, Mohram reviewed the GAARG's activities
and its role in promoting the different agricultural activities in Yemen =
through preparing the scientific researches and producing the good =
agricultural crops.
He pointed the climate diversity in Yemen during the recent years and =
patterns of the agricultural variety in the different agricultural =
environments.
For her part, the FAO's expert indicated the efforts exerted by the =
organization to support the Yemeni government's efforts via supporting a =
number of aspects that contribute
to develop the agricultural production level and face challenges amid =
alarming drought wave in Yemen.
She noted that a team currently works on gathering all field =
information in order to make evaluative study on the food security =
condition in Yemen.
