Derrick Chang, student from Taiwan:

Nursultan Nazarbayev, an honorable professor of this university presented a lecture. Over 50 thousand students and tutors from 42 universities of Kazakhstan were able to watch the live transmission of the lecture.

Karimzhan Shakirov, dean of international relations department, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University:

Fatima Kukeyeva, professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University:
- I have been listening to this lecture with great pleasure. It is the second visit of the president to Kazakh National University. Young people received evidences that our president pays a lot of attention to future specialists. Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the main aim for today is the competitiveness of our students.

Viktor Trofimov, vice-chancellor of Lomonosov Moscow State University:
- The performance of the president in front of university tutors is a very rare event and it means that the leader of the country pays a lot of attention to this university.

The president’s lecture lasted for about an hour. Nursultan Nazarbayev said that such vices of the humanity as greed, unscrupulousness and irresponsibility are lying in the heart of the global financial crisis. Despite the global recession, Kazakhstan was able to minimize its aftermath and, at the same time improve its economy.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of RK:
- I have recently received the translation of the new book of Jacques Attali, who I know very well. At this book he wrote that it is necessary to restore the high rank of such professions as an engineer and scientist. And return the profession of financier to its modest place.

Nursultan Nazarbayev announced that Kazakhstan is in need of an intellectual revolution. In this connection, it is planned to implement the “Intellectual nation” projects, which aimed at the modernization of education system.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, president of Kazakhstan:
- The keepers of ideas, creators of innovations – companies or particular scientists – they should become heroes of day. Means of mass communication should tell about them, show them, and award them.

Timur Dadabayev, professor of Cukuba University (Japan):
- All the initiatives of the president and “Bolashak” program through which Nursultan Abishevich tries to bring up new generation of leaders in this country – all that underlines once more his foresight in this politics, and simply impresses a person who is looking on that from side.

Gennadiy Kulipanov, vice director of Nuclear Physics Institute (Russia):
- This is very important event not only for students, but for the state because it illustrates what attention government pays to education. The state can not have good future without new generation of educated people.

In his lecture, the president presented a lot of sayings and interesting facts. In particular, if to collect all information, published in 2006, there will be really huge collection. Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that first of all, professors should train students with critical thinking, who can cope with the flows of information.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of Kazakhstan:
- I am assured that together we will achieve everything that we want. In 1991 we were a splinter of the big plate under the name of the USSR. We have constructed the state from zero, in the hardest conditions, I cannot compare that period to this crisis at all. We have lifted economy, have strengthened state borders, have constructed country capital, we have made Kazakhstan the respected state in the world, since January, 1st we are going to preside in OSCE. If we relax that we have made it - we and we will sit. The new problem - more difficult, more intellectual - faces to us.

After his lection, Nursultan Nazarbayev spent another hour answering students’ and professors’ questions about the future of the local science, integration processes at the post-Soviet area and the role of Kazakhstan in the region. There were a lot of questions about the economy. Such articles of the president as, “Keys from crisis” and “The fifth way”, received great response in intellectual circles. Also, the head of state was to answer questions of personal character. The president spent the whole day in the company of students and tutors. Also, the head of state visited a polytechnic university, which also marked its 75th anniversary. The preparation of the law on science is currently underway. The law stipulates scientific research on the basis of universities. It is new page in the history of local science.
