POSCO Q3 net down 6.3 pct on lower steel prices

SEOUL, Oct. 14 (Yonhap) -- POSCO, South Korea's leading steelmaker, said
Wednesday that its third-quarter profit declined 6.3 percent from a year earlier
due to lower steel prices.

Net profit reached 1.14 trillion won (US$980 million) in the July-September
period, compared with 1.22 trillion won a year earlier, POSCO said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales edged down 22 percent to 6.85 trillion won with operating income falling
48.7 percent to 1.02 trillion won.
