Yemen, ICRC agree on teaching Int'l humanitarian law in schools
SANA'A, Oct. 13 (Saba) - Education Ministry and International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) signed here on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding on teaching Exploring Humanitarian Law (EHL) in schools during 2009 - 2011.
Under the memorandum, the two sides agreed also on holding workshops for EHL
teachers and providing them with financial allowances and launching awareness
campaigns in International
Humanitarian Law in addition to printing the related-books by ICRC.
The memorandum was signed by Deputy Education Minister Abdullah al-Hamadi and Head
of ICRC delegation in Yemen Jean-Nicolas Marti.
After signing the memo, Deputy Education Minister affirmed the importance of
teaching the international humanitarian law in schools, pointing out the importance
of setting
a timetable for implementing the memo.
