YEMEN, DJIBOUTI MULL OVER ELECTRICITY CONNECTION



SANA'A, Oct. 14 (Saba)- Yemen and Djibouti agreed on Wednesday on
forming a technical team consisting of Sana'a Forum member countries
to undertake discussing Electricity Connection Project which will
link together Yemen, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Sudan as well as
preparing the terms of reference to pick up a consultative firm for
the feasibility study of the project.

That was the outcome of the Yemeni-Djibouti talks held in Sana'a for
two days by Electricity and Energy Minister Awadh al-Suqatri and the
Djiboutian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Moussa Odowa.

The two sides agreed to set up a long-run plan to implement the
project and accordingly address the Arab Fund for Economic and
Social Development (AFESD) as well coordinating with the Executive
Office of the Arab Ministers Council concerned with electricity
affairs.

They also affirmed the importance of continuing bilateral
cooperation between the two countries and exchanging experiences and
information in the fields of new, renewable and geothermal energy,
in addition to benefiting from investment contracts and buying
energy in the previously mentioned fields in line with the signed
minutes by the two countries in 2008.
