GIANT POWER PROJECT TO SEE LIGHT
SANA'A, Oct. 15 (Saba) - The Ministry of Electricity and Energy is
getting ready for implementing a $ 40 million ESCADA power monitor
project.
Director General of the Control Unit at the ministry Tawfiq Abdu Ali
said the British PB Power Inc. had won a contract to provide
consultation services for the project.
Under the contract, the firm will review the tender documents,
prepared by the ministry which would be announced in the future, and
supervise the implementation of the project.
The project receiving finance from the French Development Agency
will consist of a national control and monitor unit in the
Secretariat Capital and five other monitor centers in Sana'a, Aden,
Taiz, Hodeida and Hadramout.
The project will cover power areas across the republic, Tawfiq said,
and the centers will operate in harmony with the central unit in the
Secretariat Capital with the goal to have secured, economic and
competent operation of the national power network, he said.
The project will also have a vital role in maintaining the key
components of the power system and documenting statistical data that
help better establish forecasts for electrical loads and their
development as well as enabling the relevant authorities to made
effective decisions.
It is noteworthy that the consultation contract won by the British
firm was signed for almost € 4.127 million.
