Sensex up 19 pts in early trade



Mumbai, Oct 16 (PTI) The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark
Sensex Friday opened moderately higher by 19 points as
investors refrained from creating fresh positions on the last
day of samvat year 2065.

The 30-share index, which had lost 35.91 points in the
previous trading, gained 19.41 points at 17,214.61 points in
first five minutes of trading.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved
up by 7.50 points to 5,116.35 points on selective buying in IT
and oil and gas stocks.

Marketmen said investors were cautious in creating fresh
positions on the last day of samvat year 2065.

Among other Asian indices, Hong Kong's Hang Seng firmed
up in the morning trade.

The US markets had closed in the green yesterday. The Dow
Jones Industrial Average gained 46 points last night. PTI RS
