Congressman Ellison: U.S.-Saudi Ties Strengthened by Business
Washington, October 17, SPA -- U.S. Congressman Keith Ellison on
Friday said that business exchanges are a good way of strengthening
ties between the United States and Saudi Arabia.
Ellison, who was the first Muslim member of Congress, said that while
the ties between Saudi Arabia and the United States have historically
been strong, it is important to note the influence that business
exchanges could have brought out in this regard. His comments came
on the second and final day of the National Council for U.S.-Arab
Relations.
“Business is where we can come together,” Ellison said. It is “a
point of agreement.”
Ellison referred to Saudi Arabia’s very successful Program of
students on scholarships, adding that there are currently over 21,000
Saudi students studying in the United States, and noting that such
exchanges assist in creating a “better, stronger, more comprehensive
relationship than ever before.
