SRI MULYANI TO CONTINUE SERVING IN NEXT CABINET

Jakarta, Oct 17 (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulaynai Indrawati will continue to serve as a minister in the second-edition of the United Indonesia Cabinet for the 2009-2014 period.

After undergoing a fit-and-proper test at President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's residence in Cikeas Indah, Bogor, West Java, on Saturday, Mulyani said she was instructed by Yudhoyono to increase the country's economic performance so that results of the government's work would directly be enjoyed by the people.

According to Mulyani, the president instructed such things as enhancement of employment, reduction of poverty and creation of quality economic growth.

"The president asked me to serve in the cabinet for the 2009 - 2014 term. He suggested that the performance and the results of good work in the past should be increased," the minister said.

In the fiscal sector, the president asked that an instrument that could create economic dynamism for solving the people's economic problems should be created.

Therefore, the next government will create a financing system which would not come only from the central government but also from the regional governments and the private sector, she said.

The head of state also instructed the finance minister to increase Indonesia's role in the world forum so that it would represent the voices of the developing countries in various international forums such as the G20 and APEC.

While she refused to reveal what her post would be in the second edition of the Indonesian United Cabinet, Mulyani said Yudhoyono had given her full mandate to carry out her duties in the next five years.***
