Yemeni army kills at least 8 rebels in Saada

SANA'A, Oct.17 (Saba) - At least eight
al-Houthi rebels have been killed by the Yemeni army as they were attempting to
infiltrate
at south-west of al-Khamb area in the northern Yemeni provinces of Saada.
Security and military unites in the area carried out an attack against the rebels.
The troops intercepted a failure infiltration attempt of the al-Houthi rebels into
Noshor Security Department and Kadam fort.
Several mines were cleaned after being planted by the rebels in several regions of
Saada.
Al- Houthi rebels have been fighting the troops since 2004.
Since the fighting erupted in 2004, thousands of people, soldiers and insurgents
have been killed in Saada province and Harf Sufyan in Amran province, after the
rebel group
was founded by rebel leader Hussein al-Houthi.
Hussein, the eldest brother of the current group leader Abdul-Malik, was killed by
the army in September 2004.
The Yemeni government accuses the al-Houthi group of trying to reinstall the rule
of imams, which was toppled by a republican revolution in northern Yemen in 1962.
