Yemen, international mission discuss food security

SANA'A, Oct.17 (Saba) - Yemen
discussed on Saturday with a mission of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
and the
World Food Programme (WFP) issues relating to drought and food security in the country.
The discussion was held between Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Mansour
al-Hawshabi and the mission over the possibilities to support Yemen's efforts in
facing climatic
changes occurring due to the drought.
The suggested support aims to reduce the deterioration of agricultural production
as and lessen Yemeni farmers' burdens as a result of the poor rains.
During the dissuasion, the mission, specialized in studying food security
situations in Yemen, submitted a report to the Yemeni minister on its one-week
visit to the provinces
of Hodeidah, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar and Sana'a.
According to the visit's results, the international mission suggested a new project
which aims to support animal nutrition and farmers with improved seeds as well as
providing
aids to displaced people in Saada.
