MINISTER INAUGURATES PUSPITEK AEROMODELLING CLUB FLYING FIELD
Tangerang, Banten, Oct. 18 (ANTARA) - Research and Technology Minister Kusmayanto Kadiman inaugurated a flying field of the Science and Technology Center (Puspitek) Aeromodelling Club (PAC) at Setu South Tangerang, here on Saturday.
The new flying field of Puspitek Aeromodelling Club (PAC) was meant to satisfy aeromodelers, Minister Kadiman said.
"Aeromodelling is a hobby and also aimed at getting an experience similar to a competent pilot," the minister said.
Dimas Satrio, an aeromodeler, who won gold medal at the previous National Sports Week (PON) held in East Kalimantan Province, said the new PAC flying field could help promote the aeromodelling sport particularly in South Tangerang.
"It's great. This new flying field can for sure be a camp for aeromodelers living in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek)," Dimas Satrio said.
The 200 asphalt runway is better than those of flying fields in other areas, according to him.
The old flying field was located at "Alam Sutera Real Estate", Tangerang, about 30 kilometers west of Jakarta.
PAC is a club for Aviation Enthusiasts and it was established in 1995. The club is specifically focused on flying Radio Controlled Model Airplanes (including Gliders) and Helicopters.
Meanwhile, The Jakarta Raya Aeromodelling Club (JAC) Open Tournament 2009 will be organized on November 7-8, 2009 at JAC flying field, Dirgantara III Halim Perdana Kusuma airforce base, east Jakarta.
The JAC Open Tournament 2009 will include contests of Intermediate Helicopter (CLASS II), Intermediate Plane, Helicopter 3D, Pylon Race Plane, Touch and Go Plane, and Static Show.
