MORE REBELS KILLED, MISSILES LAUNCHERS SEIZED IN SAADA

SANA'A, Oct.18 (Saba) - Nearly seven insurgents have been killed
during mopping-up operations carried out by the security and armed
forces in Bart triangle , Wadi Ablah , and Thu Sulaiman areas, an
official military source told the state-run almotamar.net on Sunday.

The source added that the specialized military unit has pulled out a
network of mines and explosives planted by rebels in the region,
adding that quantities of munitions and explosives have been found
including a base for launching missiles working with battery in
addition to documents and different cassettes.

Four rebels were killed also due to the strong attacks launched by
the security and military unities on the rebels' dens in al-Baraka
hill in Sufian and the neighboring areas, the source added.

The source continued that a military unit destroyed a car carrying
insurgents and weapons in al-Katah area and other units damaged a
hideout of rebels near al-Qadam area killing two rebels.

The troops thwarted an infiltration attempt of rebels into Saada
Ayan road, forcing them to flee while five rebels were killed when
they tried to cut off Kutaf - al-Boqa road.

Since the fighting erupted in 2004, thousands of people, soldiers
and insurgents have been killed in Saada province and Harf Sufian in
Amran province, after the rebel group was founded by rebel leader
Hussein al-Houthi.

Hussein, the eldest brother of the current group leader Abdul-Malik,
was killed by the army in September 2004.

The Yemeni government accuses the al-Houthi group of trying to
reinstall the rule of imams, which was toppled by a republican
revolution in northern Yemen in 1962.
