EC supports Yemen in combating organized crime

SANA'A, Oct. 19 (Saba) - European
Commission official expressed here on Monday the commission's readiness to support
Yemen's
plans for combating organized crime.
During his meeting with the Interior Minister Mutahir al-Masri, head of the
commission's delegation Michelle Mirker said that Yemen plays a big role in
encountering terrorism
and is a main supporter with the international committee in combating this phenomenon.
Al-Masri said that Yemen is exerting great efforts in fighting against terrorism
and organized crime, considering that as a part of its national, regional and
international
responsibilities.
The Minister also pointed out that Yemen has made considerable progress in such
field in spite of its humble potentials.
He also noted to the strong relations that tie Yemen with the commission in that
regard.
Al-Masri added that the cabinet agreed on establishing a new department under the
Ministry administration concerned on public funds investigations, fight against
corruption
and money laundering as well as organized crime.
