UNICEF goodwill ambassador urges more aid for Yemen refugees
HAJJAH, Oct. 19 (Saba)
-UNICEF's Goodwill ambassador Egyptian actor Mahmoud Qabil stressed on Monday the
importance
of activating humanitarian efforts by official and relief agencies to help the
refugees at the Mezraq camp in Hajja province.
The call came as Qabil, currently visiting Yemen for the war refugees in the north,
paid a visit to the displaced camp in Hajjah.
On his visit, Qabil also urged more efforts to be made to provide basic needs for
the displaced, saying there is still much needed to be done to help the affected.
Qabil also called on donors and relief agencies to continue and accelerate aid for
the people at the camp, pointing out the refugees remain in need for basic services
including
sanitation, healthcare, food and clothes.
Moreover, Qabil inspected the conditions of the refugees, the level of aid
delivery, and the Unicef-built classrooms, hailing a suitable enrolment by child
students.
There are more than 150.000 refugees due to the fighting between the army and the
Houthi insurgents in the northern provinces of Saada, Amran, and Hajjah.
The army has been battling the rebels since 2004.
