Machineries of climate changes project in Yemen reviewed
SANA'A, Oct.19 (Saba)- A
meeting was held here on Monday chaired by Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation
Mansour
al-Hawshabi to approve machineries of climate changes and biodiversity project in
Yemen.
The meeting affirmed the importance of the project, which comes as a grant from
World Bank (WB) at a total cost of $4.6 million, and the project's role in
establishing data
base on the climate changes so as to serve the rain-fed agriculture in the
mountainous areas heights in Yemen.
The project aims at backing up Yemen's efforts in combating the negative impacts
caused by the climate changes through supporting and encouraging the rain-fed
agriculture
in heights and livestock development to enhance the agricultural sector's role in
achieving the food security.
Moreover, the meeting reviewed the proposals and opinions related to the
agricultural development in Yemen including the climate changes project which comes
within the rain-fed
agriculture and livestock project.
The project targets provinces of Mahweet, Sana'a, Ibb and Taiz.
