Jakarta, Oct 19 (ANTARA) - Another noted politician called by President-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for an interview as a candidate minister was Marty Natalegawa, Indonesian representative to the United Nations in New York.
Below are short profiles of prospective ministers or ministerial level officials called by President Yudhoyono on Monday:
31. Marty Natalegawa
This man is popularly called Dr Raden Marty Muliana Natalegawa MPhil BSc and is also Indonesia's permanent representative at the United Nations in New York.
Born in Bandung, West Java, on March 22 1963, Marty was ever appointed as a spokesman for the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.
Before assuming the top post at the Indonesian representative office in New York, he was Indonesian ambassador to Britain from November 11, 2005 to September 5, 2007.
Marty who started his career at the foreign ministry in 1986 gained his doctoral title from Australian National University in 1993, while his master's title was obtained from the London School of Economics, Cambridge University, Britain.
He has a great deal of diplomatic experience, among other things, as the head of delegations to some international conferences and conventions organized by the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and ASEAN.
Marty ever led the Indonesia delegation to the UN Security Council and trilateral dialogues on East Timor before being appointed as e Director General for ASEAN Cooperation (2003-2005).
The career diplomat is predicted to occupy the post of foreign minister in the next cabinet lineup.
32. Prof Ir Purnomo Yusgiantoro MA MSc PhD
Born in Semarang on June 16, 1951, Yusgiantoro who is currently the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister in the first United Indonesian cabinet was a graduate of the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1974.
He gained his master's title from the University of Colorado at Boulder Main Campus, Colorado, USA in 1986 and doctoral title in mineral economics/natural resources in 1988.
This technocrat has an international background, especially in the field of mineral resources, mining and energy.
Yusgiantoro also completed his regular course at the Indonesian Resilience Institute in 1992 and was awarded the Wibawa Seroja Nugraha citation.
From September 1998 to august 2000, he served as vice governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas).
In the next cabinet lineup, he is predicted to occupy the post of defense minister.
33. Fadel Muhammad
Born in Ternate, Maluku, on May 20, 1952, Fadel Muhammad is currently governor of the Gorontalo province. He has occupied the gubernatorial post since December 10, 2001.
In the provincial head election in 2006, he gained a 81 percent victory, the highest score in gubernatorial elections in Indonesia.
Before assuming the gubernatorial post, Fadel was known as a businessman and politician. Now, he is still chairman of the the Golkar Party's Gorontalo provincial chapter.
Fadel gained his engineer's title for technical physics from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1978. He was also one of the founders of the Indonesian Moslem Intellectuals Association and a former leader of the Bukaka Group.
In the next cabinet lineup, Fadel is predicted to occupy the post of maritime and fishery minister.
34. Prof Dr Armida S Alisjahbana SE MA
Born in Bandung on August 16, 1960, she is a professor at the economic faculty of Padjadjaran University in Bandung.
Armida is also dean and a senior researcher of the economic faculty. She gained her doctoral title from the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington, USA.
As a graduate of the Economic Faculty of the University of Indonesia for master program, she worked as a consultant in a number of world financing institutions like the world bank and AusAid, the National Development Planning Agency, the Central Bureau of Statistics, in addition to being an expert at the finance ministry and cooperative ministry.
Armida often appeared as a speaker at some seminars held in Indonesia and in foreign countries.
In the next cabinet, she will likely occupy the post of national development planning minister.
35. Ir H Suswono MMA
This politician from the Prosperous Justice Party was born in Tegal, Central Java, on April 20, 1959.
Siswono completed his basic education in Tegal, Central Java and then continued his studies in the field of socio-economic veterinary science at the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB).
He gained his master's title in the field of agribusiness management from IPB and then taught at the Ibnu Khaldun University in Bogor.
His political career began to rise when he was a member of the House of Representatives for the 2004-2009 period representing Central Java (the districts of Tegal and Brebes).
In his capacity as the vice chairman of the House's commission IV, Suswono handles the issues on food, agriculture, forestry, fishery and marine resources.
Suswono is predicted to become agriculture minister replacing his teammate Anto Apriyantono who is a PKS cadre.
36. Rear Admiral (Ret) Freddy Numberi
Born in Serui, October 15, 1947, ever occupied a number of ministrial posts before assuming the post of marine and fishery minister under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2004-2009).
After retiring from the navy, Freddy was appointed as the governor of Papua in 1998.
Under the leadership of former President Abdurahman Wahid (1991-2001), Freddy was trusted to be the state and administrative reforms minister.
Under the leadership of former President Megawati, he was appointed as Indonesian ambassador to Italy and Malta.
In 2004, he was appointed as the marine and fishery minister.
