CABINET FORMED BEFORE YUDHOYONO LEAVES FOR THAILAND: MINISTER
Jakarta, Oct 20 (ANTARA) - Minister/State Secretary Hatta Radjasa said the formation of the new cabinet would be completed before President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyon leaves for Thailand to attend an Asean Summit on October 23.
"It is the President who will decide. It will obviously not take long. It will certainly come some days after the inauguration. Although based on the law it should be done 14 days at the latest after the inauguration, it will be completed in less than a week because the President must leave for Hua Hin, Thailand," he said after congratulating Yudhoyono and Boediono at the Merdeka Palace after they were sworn in as the country's next president and vice president.
Asked if there was still anyone else to be included in the next cabinet as until Tuesday Yudhoyono had not yet determined the date for the announcement of the cabinet lineup, Hatta did not give a clear answer.
"We are all candidates, subject to evaluation and the results of health tests because they are not a mere formality. They are real and the president still has yet to evaluate them. These are real tests and serious," he said.
Presidential spokesman Andi Mallarangeng meanwhile said that the President would announce it in time. "Let us just way. There is still time for it," he said.
From Saturday to Monday Yudhoyono as president-elect had summoned 36 figures to undergo fit-and-proper tests as candidates for cabinet posts. Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, the former chief of the Aceh-Nias Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency, meanwhile, was the only one left to be inteviewed for a miniserial-level post.
Hatta said the interview with Kuntoro could take place on Tuesday or Wednesday at the palace or the president's private residence in Cikeas. ***1***
