Be prepared for all kinds of threat, PM tells armed forces

New Delhi, Oct 20 (PTI) Asking the armed forces to be
prepared for all kinds of threat, India Prime Minister

strengthen some "areas of congruence" among them and assured
Government support in their modernisation plans.
"Despite the progress that has been made towards
jointness and synergy in various operational, training and
administrative aspects among the services, there are a
number of areas of congruence that need to be strengthened
further," he said while addressing the two-day Unified
Commanders' Conference here Tuesday.
The three Services have had differences on various
matters concerning them such as the creation of the office of
the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), setting up of the Aerospace
Command under the Indian Air Force and issue of leading the
joint operations.
Ensuring support for modernisation of the armed forces,
the Prime Minister said, "Our Government is fully committed to
the modernisation of armed forces and ensuring their military
superiority and technological edge."
Asking the forces for integrating their modernisation
plans, he added, "The modernisation plan should have a long
