INDONESIAN STOCKS CLOSE LOWER

Jakarta, Oct. 21 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) here on Wednesday noon closed lower.

The BEI index went down 25.82 points or 1.03 percent to the level of 2,476.9.

The Indonesian stocks slump did not meet the expectation of investors as the president-elect was inaugurated on Tuesday and the regional bourses tended to strengthen, according to Krisna Dwi Setiawan, a research analyst of PT Valbury Asia Securities.

"Blue chip shares lost, including those of ADRO, BBRI, PGAS and BUMI," he said.

At regional bourses, Hang Seng index went down 31.38 points or 0.14 percent to 22.353,58, Nikkei-225 index gained 7.40 points or 0.07 percent to 10.344,24, and Straits Times shares rose 12.78 points or 0.47 percent to 2.698,25.

At the BEI morning trading's close, there were 52,755 transactions, involving 2.302 billion shares, with a total value of Rp1.814 trillion. Some 28 shares gained, 150 shares lost, 54 shares remained static.
At the previous trading opening, the BEI index went down 17.459 points or 0.70 percent to 2,484.667 and the LQ-45 index weakened 4.037 points or 0.87 percent to 488.400.

Astra International shares lost Rp350 to Rp32,850, Astra Agro Lestari weakened Rp250 to Rp22,250, United Tractor shares fell Rp200 to Rp16,400, Bank BCA shared cut Rp25 to Rp4,750, and Bank Danamon shares plunged Rp75 to Rp4,675.

Besides, Indosat shares went down Rp50 to Rp5,600, Telkom shares decreased Rp50 to Rp8,650, and Gudang Garam shares slumped Rp100 to Rp14,200.
