RI YOUNG BIZMEN READY TO COMPETE INTERNATIONALLY

Bangkok, Oct 22 (ANTARA) - The participation of Indonesian young businessmen in an international forum indicates that they are ready to compete at international level, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Sandiaga Uno said here on Thursday.

"The participation of 50 members of the Young Indonesian Businessmen's Association (Hipmi) in an international forum indicates that they are ready to compete with business makers from other countries," Sandiaga said on the sidelines of an "ASEAN 100 Leadership Forum 2009" in Bangkok on Thursday.

Themed "ASEAN integration in the face of global crisis: challenges and opportunities", the forum was designed as an opportunity for businessmen to discuss various economic challenges and opportunities in ASEAN countries.

Sandiaga Uno, a former Hipmi chairman, added that some 100 participants in the forum would interact and exchange information about business opportunities.

The forum was opened by Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjaiva who expressed hope that new thinkers would emerge from the event.

Abhisit said on the occasion that Asean was quick in the solution of global economic crises in the region.

He said the participants of the forum would discuss the impact of the global economic crisis on China and ASEAN countries and ways how to deal with it.

The Thai prime minister added that other issues related to the emergence of new leaderd, Asean's expectations, the impact of climate change, geopolitics, technology, the social and cultural impact would also be discussed in the forum.
