RI NOT TO RESUME COOPERATION WITH NAMRU-2 : MINISTER
Jakarta, Oct 22 (ANTARA) - Newly inaugurated Health Minister Endang Rahayu Sedianingsih said the government had decided not to continue cooperation with the United States Naval Medical Research Unit/NAMRU-2.
"Cooperation with the United States will be continued but not with NAMRU. The form of cooperation will be formulated later, not with the US military or NAMRU. Cooperation with NAMRU was terminated some time ago and we should not reverse this and continue it," the minister said here on Thursday.
She said that cooperation in the health sector with other countries would only be established with research institutions managed by civilians, not by the military.
"And the cooperation should be evaluated whether or not it puts Indonesia on an equal footing, is transparent and mutually beneficial," she said.
