INDONESIAN AMBASSADOR TO MEXICO PASSES AWAY

Jakarta, Oct 22 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ambassador to Mexico, Honduras and Costa Rica, Andung A Nitimihardja, passed away on Thursday at the age of 59 due to an illness.

"We have received confirmation that the ambassador has passed away," Teguh Wardoyo, director for protection of Indonesian citizens and workers of the Foreign Ministry, said here on Thursday.

Andung A Nitimihardja was born in Bandung on March 4, 1950, He earned his S1 title from the Bogor Institute of Agriculture and obtained his doctorate in development studies at Pittsburgh state University in the United States.

He was the minister of industry in President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's first United Indonesia Cabinet before he was replaced by Fahmi Idris during a cabinet reshuffle on October 16, 2005.

Indonesian Ambassador to Argentina Aswin Darwis also passed away on October 16, 2009.

Wardoyo said that his side was working together with the Indonesian Embassy in Washington to facilitate the sending back of the body of the Late Aswin Darwis to Indonesia.

"The late Aswin died on Friday, October 16, 2009," Wardoyo said.***
