PRESIDENT : "I AM THE CAPTAIN"
Jakarta, Oct 22 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said here on Thursday that he was the captain with regard to his administration and therefore all ministers must be loyal and only responsible to him.
"I remind you that we follow a presidential system. The president is the captain. Your loyalty and responsibility are to me, not to political party chiefs with regard to state administration. You must understand this well," he said in his speech after swearing in ministers of his cabinet for 2009-2014.
He also reminded the 34 ministers and two new state officials inaugurated that day that they were all members of the cabinet and the administration.
"Whereever you came from, including political parties, I hope you will put the interest of the administration, the state and the nation above the interest of political parties or groups. Do not reverse them. People will monitor the implementation of your commitment," he said.
President Yudhoyono also asked all cabinet members to dedicate their time, minds and strength for the sake of the people.
"Your have been selected among members of the nation through credible and transparent tests and I have considered you fit to join the cabinet. Show and prove it in the implementation of your future tasks," he said.
He said they had all signed an integrity pact or code of ethics for implementation and also a working contract to meet the target and achieve goals.
"Every year, I will conduct an evaluation. The next five years will not be easy with the oil price continuing to fluctuate and outstanding complex domestic problems," he said.
The inauguration was also attended by First Lady Mrs Ani Yudhoyono, Vice President Boediono and wife Mrs Herawati Boediono, chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly, Taufiq Kiemas, House Speaker Marzuki Alie, former cabinet ministers and dozens of family members of the new ministers.***
