Al-Houthi deprives 65,000 students from schools
SANA'A, Oct. 22 (Saba) - Rebellion
of Houthi has resulted in the deprivation of about 65,000 students from their right
to study,
Education Minister Abdul-Salam al-Jawfi said on Thursday.
Al-Jawfi told the state-run 26sep.net that students and teachers could not arrive
to school, affirming that about 35,000 students from various grades are studying
currently
in the displaced camps.
As the displaced have left their homes without taking their school documents, the
students accepted without considering their documents.
The Ministry in cooperation with UNICEF, the National Committee to Support
Displaced and the local authority are to open and outfit some spaces in the
displaced comps to
be ready to receive students.
Houthi rebels in northern Yemen have seized teachers, dismissed tens of students
and took over 63 schools to station there and fight the troops.
Local officials said the rebels forced educators to teach their curricula and
ideology.
Meantime, the army is continuing its offensives against the Houthi followers that
started in early August.
September was the deadliest for the rebels since the war started in August as more
than 300 Houthi fighters were reported killed only during the second of the month.
Many areas have been cleansed of the insurgents, with many of the rebels
surrendering and others arrested.
