Yechury said, "Raja has ruled out resignation, saying he
has gone by the book. It is now up to the Prime Minister and
the Cabinet to take whatever steps were needed to ensure
accountability."
According to the CPI(M), CBI investigation into the
allotment of 2G spectrum licences to some private companies
was a "long overdue step".
The Central Vigilance Commission had directed the CBI to
conduct the enquiry into the scam, which involves a loss of
Rs 60,000 crore to the public exchequer, the party said.
Raja had Thursday night ruled out resignation in the wake
of CBI searches and said all decisions on spectrum licensing
have been taken in accordance with procedures laid down by
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and in
consultations with the Prime Minister. PTI SJY
