India, Oman to hold joint air exercise in Thumrait
Thumrait (Oman), Oct 23 (PTI) Indian Air Force Jaguars
will operate along with F-16 fighters and Jaguars of the Royal
Air Force of Oman as they participate in the week-long joint
air exercise between them here.
Six Indian Air Force (IAF) Jaguars arrived at the
airbase of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) here to join the
exercise codenamed 'Eastern Bridge' from Saturday.
The exercise would witness RAFO Jaguars and F-16 Block
50+ fighters operating for the first time alongside IAF
Jaguars.
While RAFO fighters participating in the air exercise
are based at Thumrait, the IAF Jaguars have flown in from
Gorakhpur airbase in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
RAFO Thumrait Station Commander Air Commodore Matar Bin
Ali Bin Matar Al-Obadani and Commanding Officers of the two
RAFO Jaguar squadrons and the F-16 squadron based at Thumrait
received the IAF contingent for the air exercise.
The IAF formations on arrival, carried out a swift
fly-past over Thumrait airfield at 500 feet before peeling off
to land individually, IAF spokesperson Wing Commander T K
Singha, who is part of the contingent, said.
"The voice of our controllers on radio telephony was
indeed very reassuring," remarked Wing Commander Anant Mathur,
the commanding officers of the IAF Jaguar detachment after
landing.
The fighter aircraft had taken off from the Jamnagar
airbase in India's western state of Gujarat Thursday. PTI NCB
