Yemeni cultural wing at the NIEW International Forum opened

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia,
Oct. 23 (Saba)- The Embassy of Yemen in Kuala Lumpur launched on Friday the Yemeni
cultural
wing at the NIEW International Forum, which was held for period from 23rd to 25th
October under sponsorship of the NAM Institute for the Empowerment of Women (NIEW).
The Yemeni wing includes multimedia parts over culture and tourism in Yemen as well
as Yemeni traditional dresses and foods.
The Malaysian minister of waters and other diplomats attended the ceremony of
launching the wing. The Malaysian minister expressed admiration for the contents of
the wing,
highlighting women participation in the forum.
The two-day forum would review issues related to woman of the third world and role
of the governments of Non-Aligned Movement and civil society organization in
building
capacities of woman.
Established on 1 July 2006, The NAM Institute for the Empowerment of Women (NIEW),
was a proposal headed by the Malaysian Government at the first NAM Ministerial
Meeting
on the Advancement of Women in Putrajaya, Malaysia held from 7 to 10 May 2005.
With the support of the Ministers and Heads of Delegations from NAM Member
Countries, NIEW is the movement's international institute dedicated to women's
development and
empowerment. Its vision is to be a training and research centre NAM Member Countries
to strive for the achievement of gender equality. Through its courses and strategic
activities,
NIEW will aim to develop gender-related knowledge, support governments in their
efforts to strengthen women's rights for equality and empowerment, and create global
awareness
to change society's perceptions of gender roles and relations.
A first for NAM and the world, NIEW aspires to heighten the role of women worldwide
through its efforts. With support and commitment from NAM Member Countries, NIEW
will
move forward towards the empowerment of women.
